Crimson Clover

$5.97

A beautiful wildflower that not only creates fields of strawberry red blooms, but also increases your soil’s fertility. Crimson clover is a legume that pulls nitrogen from the air and holds it in its roots. When the plants are mowed down and mixed into the soil, so is all that new nitrogen, making your soil that much healthier for your next planting!

Clover does well in spaces that receive at least 6 hours of sunlight per day and in soil that is removed of vegetation and weeds.

Crimson clover can be sown anytime of the year from early spring to fall. For the spring, sow your seeds after your area’s last frost date. In areas with mild winters, crimson clover will survive the winter and continue to grow in the warming days of spring. One ounce of seeds will cover an area of 100 square feet. Evenly scatter the seeds on the soil surface. Gently rake the seeds so they are covered by about ¼ inch of soil.
