Bloomsdale Longstanding Spinach Seeds

$3.97

This old heirloom dates back to the 1800's but is still one the most well known spinach varieties today. Large and savoyed dark green leaves are packed full of nutrients and flavor, and are ready to harvest in just 4 weeks. Preforms best in the spring and fall or gardens with colder climates or less sun.

Plant Preferences:

Spinach will grow well in most soils provided they are moist and fertile. It is sensitive to acidic soils and prefers a pH of 6.5-7.5.

When to Sow:

Spinach prefers cooler temperatures and will have sporadic germination when soil temperatures are above 75-80 degrees. Start planting in the spring as soon as soil has thawed, stop in the summer when temperatures rise, and then start again in the fall when temperatures start to drop up until your first frost.

Days to Maturity:

Baby Leaf: 30 days

Full Size: 40-50 days

Sowing Depth:

1/8"-1/4"

Plant Spacing:

Baby Leaf: Sow seeds in 2" wide bands, seeds approximately 3/4" apart, and bands about 6"-10" apart.

Full Size: Sow seeds as described above, but thin seedlings out to 6" spacing.
