Carrot ‘Nantes’ – Daucus carota var. sativus
Sweeter variety than most carrots with a tender texture make this a great garden variety. Blunt tips on 5 to 7 inch long roots with a bright orange color. A completely different experience from store bought carrots.
SOW seeds in the early spring to early fall outdoors ¼ inch deep in bands about 12 inches apart. Thin seedlings to about every 2 inches.
HARVEST when shoulders of carrot have begun to widen by digging up with a garden fork or shovel.
TIPS Carrots don’t compete well with weeds, so stay on top of weeding from the start. Irregular irrigation can cause splitting of the roots. Consider using a floating row cover to protect plants from pests.
