Organic Champion Collard Greens

$3.29

The favorite green of the south! The leaves on the Champion Collard Greens are large, smooth, rich, sweet and tender. They will produce all year long but sweeten when cold weather arrives. Great for eating raw, or cooked traditionally with your favorite recipe.

Plant Preferences:

Collards are an easy growing plant that will do in most soils, but prefer a well draining and rich soil with even moisture.

Single Packet: 400 Milligrams - Approx. 50 seeds

When to Sow:

Collard seeds germinate best when soil temperatures are higher, around 75-85 degrees. However, the plants prefer to grow in cooler conditions. This can be achieved by starting seedlings indoors 3-4 weeks before planting out, or by direct seeding in the spring soil and covering with a row cover to add a little extra warmth. Plant up until about eight weeks before your first frost to overwinter mature plants.

Days to Maturity:

From Transplant: 55-60 days

Direct Seeding: 70 days

Sowing Depth:

1/8"-1/4"

Plant Spacing:

Baby Leaf: Sow seeds in 2" wide bands, seeds approximately 3/4" apart, and bands about 6"-10" apart.

Full Size: Sow seeds as described above, but thin seedlings out to 6" spacing.
